Howdy folks. My name is Phillipe. Greetings from the Lone Star State of Texas. Yes Texan artists do exist. Lol. Lately I've been itching to make art again. Been dormant for several years. But my motivation to create is back for good. Just came across this app today by coincidence. I FEEL SO HONORED BEING HERE AMONG YOU ART GODS AND GODDESSES NOT TO MENTION YOUR ART WORSHIPPERS. Lol. WE CREATE...THEREFORE WE ARE!!! Perhaps I'm too "old" to be considered an "emerging artist"? But I do consider myself as such. Don't get me wrong. I have had a lot of success ever since I started messing with art. I sold, traded, donated and even lost some of my masterpieces. I make art to satisfy my own creative desires and not for fame or fortune. The above collage of some of the most influential JAZZ MASTERS one can see here, I donated it along with two other original pieces, to the local ARLINGTON MUSEUM OF ART (AMA) several years ago. All three pieces were auctioned off totalling roughly $1100. I DONATED EVERY SINGLE PENNY TO THE AMA. So it's not for monetary reasons that I'm an artist. It's also more than merely expressing my aesthetic emotions. First and foremost, THE FREEDOM TO CREATE WITHOUT ARBITRARY AUTHORITY IS MY FIRST REASON. Everything else are secondary.
Work / Education
In 2012 I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES ( INTS): Philosophy, Criminal Justice, Art, Art History from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). I unsuccessfully attempted to get an M.A. in INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS (IR) from late 2013 to 2014. I wanted to teach politics at the college/university level. But I was really burned out not to mention financial stress was a major factor. My student loans kept stacking. So I dropped out of graduate school without any regret...I became an emerging student artist back in 2003 while attending Texas State University studying studio arts focusing on print making and painting. The arts are my passion. Making visual art is my calling. This is my fate. I CREATE THEREFORE I AM in the Cartesian sense. All of my art are improvised. No sketching. No pre-planning either. Why? Because I usually change my mind in the process. There is this anonymous dictum proclaiming "BEWARE: THE NATURE OF YOUR OPPRESSION IS THE AESTHETIC OF OUR ANGER!" Making art is about freedom to me. I'm an ANARCHIST. NOAM CHOMSKY IS MY CONTEMPORARY HERO. GERHARD RICHTER is a god. Michelangelo was a saint. I'll always consider myself to be a
"student artist" because I'm constantly learning from the past, present and future masters. Shalom...
