About me
Professional artist in Fredericksburg VA. I paint in acrylics and mixed media and jewelry. Occasionally, I create work in watercolor or textiles.
My degree is in Art Education, with a focus on painting in oils. I discovered that I loved painting in acrylics about 10 years ago.
I am most often inspired by places I love-- mountains, the sea, and cities, but also by flowers, as well as color and form. Sometimes I find the many techniques I use to art make me hurry to get to work in my studio as much as the desire to create a representation of a particular sibject. Making art is personally satisfying to me because I create images that make others happy by allowing them to imagine they are experiencing my sense of delight and amazement at my world. It also keeps that same sense of delight and amazement ever fresh at the same time. That's a pretty good reason to go into the studio every morning!
