Description
About me
I am a still life painter and have been actively painting since 2014 though my love for art, occasional drawing, painting and photography have been life long.
I did not have any formal training in art besides fundamental drawing. I am a self taught painter developing my technique after carefully studying work by the artists of classic realism. My work celebrates nature, life and creative heritage of places that I have visited, lived in and loved. I have a fondness for Kashmir shawls, India Persian carpets and Afghan rugs.
Amongst my avid supporters and toughest critics are my wife and two sons.
Work / Education
I completed my formal education from Lahore and obtained a degree in fashion design. I moved to Cairo in 2001 and spent nearly three years there extensively traveling in the region, observing, studying and absorbing its rich and diverse culture. Its in Cairo that I first publicly exhibited my work. I made Shanghai my home for more than a decade now where rich mandarin culture and history infused with modernity of the city is endlessly inspiring. I devote my time between lecturing aspiring designers on a franco-Chinois platform and painting in my studio.
