About me
I am Nilima.
I am not a conventional artist. I have been enchanted by the nature at a young age and has been entangled in its magic. I was five when I started painting, or mess making. My parents understood that it will be part of my identity, and soul so they appointed teachers to teach me. I Iiked the ever changing mystery of it of my parents agreeing to it and I was roughly by several groups of teachers who all had their own fields of art. I studied under them for 10 years. So in ten years i learned everything pencil, sketch, potrait, water colours, arcylic and oil. I still remember how each teacher tought me their techniques and speciality and how each medium enchant me and I try to capture that image in a blank sheet. Even today I have not fixed on any one medium and continue to use different mediums. I found my passion and part of soul in colours. I don't mind being a bit messy for my are I love it.
I fancy intricate weavings of mother nature and try to understand them through my paintings. Though I try portraying the nature but sometimes it also reflect other things and strictly speaking it's my understanding of nature and the way I have tried to understand art a little. Though I have a much bigger path to go I appreciate the journey not being done alone. But with my art.
I didn't study art officialy in an Art College, where I earned an Art Degree. But I studied my favourite subject History, Ancient History. Studying HISTORY from the most prestigious university in India tought me about the nature and how it changes throughout the course of history and I gathered a deeper understanding and connection to my art. Which I believe is reflected in my paintings, or I hope gets reflected in my paintings. Me a history student try to understand art differently and most importantly I also try to forward some memories that are being slowly forgotten in these modern life.
I really hope my art provides YOU warmth and happiness I myself find in each of them.
