Description
About me
I have been painting for a long time. It is the one thing that has been consistent during a large portion of my life.
It has kept me going and allows me to grow as a person and as an artist.
Originally I wanted to be a musician, but I met someone who was an abstractionist and that was the push that got me going.
Work / Education
I first started with life drawing classes offered at a local gallery, and that met once a week. I attended that class for several years and sold my first painting there.
I also took life drawing classes with a teacher for several years offered by the community continuing education for adults department.
The teacher had earned a Master's degree in painting from Wayne State and I was fortunate enough to be in several of her classes.
The teacher felt that I really excelled at gesture drawings.
I also took drawing classes at Wayne State University for a few semesters, and I also took painting classes at the University of Michigan, Flint campus.
While at the University of Michigan, I won an Artist with a vision award and a second best in show award.
Also, I took watercolor and painting classes at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association, along with having other teachers along the way.
I've been shown at a few galleries I'm the Metro Detroit area and in Saugatuck, Michigan.
