Sculptor
John Paul Albert Narciso Dalisay, “Pope” as he is fondly called, was born 1984 in Butuan City and raised in Davao City. Dalisay is an upcoming young sculptor who is very hardworking and always places his heart and mind in everything he does. A self-thought sculptor, he is always ardent for experimentations, keen in discovering new techniques and very diligent in mastering the art. Originally an all-wood medium sculptor, he has diversified into other mediums such as clay, plaster, concrete, stone, adobe, paper, and sometimes in combinations.
His biggest development as a sculptor and as a craftsman was when he left his hometown and resided in Cebu City. There, he experienced working alongside top designers and had the privilege to observe and be coached by master sculptor Jet Florendo.
His fascination with the complexity of humanity in its beauty and tragedy provokes him to create abstracted human figures. His attraction to the elegance of the female figure, the intrinsic bond between mother and the child and the profoundness of the Christ’s crucifixion makes these his favorite subjects that often appear in his artworks.
Dalisay currently resides in Pangasinan, North of Luzon, and is working full time in sculptural arts. He has also committed his life to sharing passion for the arts to the youth.
