Description
About me
Self taught since August 2014. classically and formally trained as a chef with 20+ years experience. I’ve stepped down to take more time for drawing. Most of my work is for sale. However the site requires a minimum charge of $200. This is ridiculous. I am negotiatable on most of my prices and they do reflect the 30% commission fee. Contact me direct if you see a piece you’d like to purchase and I can work with you on the price. dcroft39@gmail.com My work is mostly graphte and charcoal and I never use one with out the other. I am striving for hyperrealisim, however I never copy a photo. I prefer drawin from life, but when not able to I will use a photo reference. My goal is to draw something that never was a photo. And make it beyond realistic. I’ve achieved this once or twice. I always put a little of myself in every drawing and change something about the reference. I don’t use grids or any projector. I use my eye, and my hand. I do not work In color being that I am red/green color blind. I prefer monochrome anyway. And given the chance I’d much rather look at an artists drawings rather than their paintings.
Work / Education
self taught artist. Classically and formally trained chef. Graduate of Johnson &.Wales. I work now as a finish carpenter having giving of the life of a chef due to a shattered thigh. I can no longer work and stand 15 hours a day. As for art education. Like I said. I have none. I learn from doing and have only been doing for 3 years at the time of this writing. I have a lot to learn. The drawing as an artist is the journey i love. The time spent on a piece. The finished product is for others. I always get a bit sad when I am done with a piece. It’s bittersweet.
