About me
HI,I have spent a lot of time switching gears and I’ve been doing a lot of what I call FUN AND FUNCTIONAL art ,I managed to put together a shop with more tools and machines than I ever thought possible in a short time I have been doing mechanical sculpture and other various projects,I have been creatively prolific for some reason yet I work on too many ideas at once .I have made several lamps that are unusual and I consider it a challenging way to work as I always want what I see in my mind but none the less I can’t leave my photos and collages alone I have been going back to things I felt were never right .i have also really dedicated myself to making my own frames from reclaimed materials and as usual the print is a permanent part of frame or however I feel the image will best be suited .this has been a tough time in my life but somehow I begin to work on something and trouble melts away for several hours and immense satisfaction comes when my struggle to create what I see in my mind come to ,I’ve been lucky to sell work locally especially since some sculptures are very heavy .Im hoping to keep up with The terrific artists here that I truly love and find new ones to inspire and enjoy hope to make some works available here but have had no time to do so and I’m enjoying the local thing so much but I do plan to expand this year in several ways, hope all find themselves happy or at least find ways to learn and cope and become stronger from inevitable struggles and keep creating no matter what your heart and soul need to express themselves to thrive and we all know life is the real inspiring behind all we do and an artists best work is always when the world is shut out and one can pour their heart into their work ,So whatever life brings don’t let it crush your spirit and your spirit wil soar
Work / Education
I have been into photography since childhood ,while I have attended continuing education classes at sva for mixed media /design I have also sat through countless online tutorials to get a better command of digital work ,this kind of art has always been a way to cope with stress .My wife has photos of my projects she has shown to people in conversation and what I thought was pleasing to my eye and mine alone she developed a small loyal following for me locally here in nyc .I incorporate the city into almost all my work from photos I have meticulously cataloged over the years, through my work I have had the luck of being on the roof of skyscrapers from Harlem to the Bowery and have caught a city in transition from the grit of old to whatever mish mosh we have now ,also churches and religious statues have always piqued my artistic eye .i will take several photos of a single day and make one work that captures a theme .I also have advanced skills with metal work and again have been lucky to collect parts and pieces of machinery from rip outs across the city today I use these parts to make metal sculptures that have functional and artistic value ,this keeps me almost too busy .i will share some sculptures on moments from time to time
