Description
About me
I'm a Artist based out of Vancouver, Canada.
My work predominantly deals with notions of gender, sexuality, struggle, violence, beauty and guilt.
I strive to create paintings that confront the viewer, engage with them, make them feel uncomfortable or even repulsed. I try to make my paintings move between realms of beauty and vandalism.
Often I start off a painting or drawing that is sumptuous in its aesthetics- highly rendered images that could be classified as decorative works of art. When the painting is almost completely realized I then purposely ruin them. Sometimes I slap thick gobs of paint onto their smooth surface, or disrupt the image with some absurd playful color that can appear playful or sometimes represent a violent act or intrusion on the image.
