I am a Brazilian artist, living between São Paulo and Denver, Colorado. Began painting in 2005. In 2007 I was invited by the then French atachée in São Paulo do a solo show at 'Aliança Francesa', where many famous Brazilian artists from th 80's started out.
After a 3 month residency at Grace studios in Denver of 2016-17 I had a solo show called 'Fluid Signals' and brought back 8 paintings to Brazil to be shown in Snao Paulo September 2017.
I am a musician and head of the band Rebecca Sharp & Goldenground.
My painting studio is currently in São Paulo where I am exploring different approaches to painting and the ongoing subject of 'what came before creation', black holes, white holes and the energy in between.
I am inspired by oil paints for the vibrancy and endurance in time, for the great malleability and texture which make it an appropriate medium for the subjects I am exploring.
In the last 12 months I have seen 3 different and distinguished motivations and explorations in my work. The 1st period called 'Fluid signals' became a download of symbols that repeated themselves throughout the canvases of the period. Each symbol came in as a channeling together with its meaning, function and emotion. The birthing of the symbols on to the canvas indicated the closure of a painting, the arrival in its full significance for me. I felt during this process, that a triad of communication was happening, between me, the canvas and the download of symbols. I then began to isolate the symbols and began an inner research as to what they meant more profoundly. I came to understand them as characters with specific functions within the subtle realm of the painting's environment, much like characters in a play. Each symbol has a name: 'Nave' (ship), 'Carrier' (moves elements around the environment/world of the painting), 'Death lifter' (removes what has lost it's life force), 'Seal' (protects and blesses the space), 'Movement Angels' (transforms the environment, direct manifestation of the absolute as form). I am now working towards light representations of the symbols.
The 2nd phase is called "Compression" and is an exploration of excess and texture. At one point of this process I questioned why I was using paint in such a way, almost repeatedly, as a mono theme of texture. From this questioning and doubt as to the quality of what I was doing came the 3rd period called "Essence". I realized I was downloading an entire alphabet all at once in "Compression" to then be able to pluck out the main vowels, so to speak, of the essence of what I really want to say. The 3rd period began with a statement: "From the center springs everything". I am trying to say in clear symbols and movement within the canvas what thousands of words explain in a book. It is a minimalist approach, especially if compared to the previous excess of the "Compression" series.
Between these 3 dialogues or seasons of exploration I have found a new language. What I work towards always, is the moment a message 'locks in' and is represented on the canvas. I am motivated by honesty, by truth and by the secret un-wordable language of art to express beyond the confines of limited communications. When that moment arrives in the studio it is always accompanied by great emotion and a sense of beyond this world revelation.

I am not motivated to comment on society, media or human relations. I want to portray the chemistry of creation and even of what came before those creations. I am always seeking what came before manifestation as we know it. Before the deafening stamp of common language. I am inspired from the inside-out.
