About me
Painting is my greatest and yet most seldom used form of expression. Though I started drawing stick figures at 10 yo, I did not really get serious about art until I was in college when I had the chance to live with really talented people. Since then I've changed media from graphite pencil to charcoal, then colored pencil, and then acrylic and water color. My first works were portraits of iconic movie characters and pretty girls (cos hey,who doesn't like them?) in realism but I've since moved on to abstract representation of photos of my friends in social media. From time to time I also paint landscape and sceneries and random things that I give to people in the church. We call these "prophetic paintings", kind of a representation of how we honor that person and what great things we envision for him or her. As of July 2017, I have made dozens of paintings and have also provided artworks and illustrations for two poetry books. I've also taught fellow artists how to use acrylic and water color and for me, teaching has been one of the greatest experiences in this field, next to actually creating art. Sometimes maybe even more.
Creativity really just comes and goes randomly. Painting is a hobby for me, a way to express dreams, desires, and frustrations or simply a way to vent out the usual work-induced stress. One of the things I learned in painting is that it's not just about the output but also about the process of creating that deeply satisfies us, just like in any other craft. Maybe that's why my works are random. Though I am mostly self-taught in terms of methods and techniques, I always take inspiration form my fellow artists as well as family and friends that encourage me in my art. Deep conversations will also always start my creativity. I paint when I'm troubled, which enforces my belief that both peace and chaos of mind and heart produce beautiful works of art. I also sometimes travel the islands of the Philippines to take in new things and ways of life that can't be seen in my current concrete urban jungle of a home in Manila.
Someday I dream to travel the world just for art.
