Mapping is a computer 3D program tool which transforms a two dimensional image into a three dimensional form, turning a virtual model into a realistic object. Its realistic surface allows the form to have a sense of reality. A facial expression can even suggest a person’s psychological status with such visual nuances that it can deliver a person’s feelings and can be remembered as an image in people’s mind. People today, want themselves to be remembered having a better look in others’ minds, and there are varied ways of achieving this. Among Korean and Chinese people, plastic surgery, as well as mobile or computer applications respectively, are utilized to improve their looks. It is quickly becoming an epidemic. There are some absurd episodes related to this issue—a Chinese man in his thirties went into a river out of disappointment after seeing his bride’s face for the first time on their wedding day. Also, there is a story about a guy who beat a girl, whom he met via an online chatting site, on the grounds that her looks were different from her profile picture. These incidents came out of the confusion between the virtual online world and the real world, the phenomena of which can be attributed to a fantasy that people develop in their minds, while going back and forth between the internet social network space and the real world. Only when maintaining a good balance on the boundary between a reality and a fantasy, can we find ourselves in the right situation. The concentrated mass composed of multiple layers from the two different spaces—the ‘layers’ created in a social networking space and the ‘layers’ created in a real world—make us feel the weight of this fantasy. I distinguished inside and outside space and expressed this sense of weight on vinyl, which displays a transparent boundary, exhibiting the essence of an illusion formed by the multiple layers of expressions in a form of three dimensional ceramics. Also, the drawings on vinyl describe the essence of those shapes (things) constantly changing, according to the trendy internet space, and dribbling down, as they cannot withstand the weight.
