I am an activist artist, and through arts I articulate my insight exegesis of who I am, what's going on within my society, as well as the international issues on human rights, gender equality, women empowerment and climate change. In my country, the Philippines, there are a lot of measures/ordinances to create, regulate and administer among the status of our indigenous people, rape culture, homophobic mentality and land conservation in contrast to economic growth. These are the social issues that occupies my creativity and motivates me to paint, photograph and film humanity.
In Kiss of the Lilacs 2013, a more defined woman is predominantly kissing the lips of a hermaphrodite person, who is accompanied with a violet tinted butterfly participating in the amorous heralding of the couple, while below is the prince of heart's delight, Cupid, transporting countless blossoming flowers to celebrate the split second moment of endearment. It is in this flash of emotions that one can quantify it into a positive and consummate honesty of loving an individual beyond the classic legibility within the social scheme of the society; that this mysterious affection, sentiment and passion goes beyond the discipline instilled to human society.
