This painting is inspired by and is an interpretation of a gorgeous black and white photograph taken by my friend during a trek in Argentina. Around the same time, I had decided to take a brief course on colour harmony so I set a challenge for myself to interpret the photograph, in order to learn how to mix multiple shades of black and white. It was really challenging, but humbling in a wonderful way. I learned a lot. One of my favourite parts is the deep, rich black sky, created with violet, burnt umber and a few other colours.
