"Back Tales" 2013 -The figures of my paintings are represented in vulnerable poses, yet they retreat from the viewer; they are psychologically revealing, yet the sitters are hiding their truer self. The serenity and beauty those subjects possess is counterbalanced by the limit they pose to the observer by denying a look into the eyes, a direct & far more obvious connection. Surprisingly though, they engage the viewer deeply, as they depict the naked essence of human beings, always oscillating between opposites.This could be anyone, could be everyone.
