This piece is so calming and meaningful at the same time. The shadows and soft edges show how fine and organized life is. Whether you meant it to be symbolic or not this picture has a lot to say about people. For me the cropping to show only a bit of the person represents how what you see on the surface is only a fraction of what defines a person while the white mark represents underlying qualities that force you to take a second look. The smudge almost seems to be a mistake but the alignment of its edge with the shoulder proves that it is intentional and shows the true elements of personality that shine through even if they are unintended. Beautiful work
