Jena: 1 out of 6
Description
I created 6 drawings of the people closest to me. I spent countless hours drawing their portraits as accurately as I could to their likeness. Once the drawing was completed, I decided to disrupt the image by vandalizing the smooth paper surface. I chose gouache as my method of disruption. I laid the paint down without any thought or worry of what it would bury beneath it. I imaged the paint as a method of drowning the pencil drawing, and what emerged was something new, something abstract.
