Despite not being a fan of romantic movies, I am a sucker for Age of Adaline. I always have this darker alternative storyline, that Adaline is always always wearing a facade. So this painting speaks to me in two layers. Number one, a beautiful exterior. A simple presence that somehow managed to radiate so much elegance that one can rarely see these days in real life. Pretty, isn't it. Such splendor for the eyes to behold. And then there's the number two, a stark interior. Deep behind that beauty lies knowledge, experience, wisdom,......power. She's light and pleasant and perfect, but there's always this odd, lingering feeling of danger that she might destroy you if it just happens to cross her mind, or if you give her the reason to, don't you think? I think she can. She has the most powerful weapon at her disposal. Knowledge by experience. And after living a very long life, I think she wouldn't even blink an eye at the thought of sending you to oblivion.
Or maybe she's just this plain, pretty, old-fashioned lady. I don't know. Told you I'm not a fan of romantic movies.
