Intolerance (Detail)

Description

In life there are two basic relationships that should be implemented, namely relationships vertically and relationships horizontally. First is the relationship between the person and his God who is realized in the form of worship. In this connection, religious tolerance is limited in a religion only. The second relationship is the relationship between man and his neighbor. In this connection is not limited to the environment of a religion only, but also applies to all people who are not religious, in the form of community cooperation. In such a case, tolerance in the interfaith life of the religious community is applied.

Lately Indonesia is being hit by conflict between religions and intolerance, so the reality of religious life that arises is suspicious mutual suspicion, mutual disbelief, and living in disharmony. They are easily provoked and difficult to tolerate with other faiths. Such a society is easily mobilized by a group of people or communities both allied to politics as well as to socio-culture.

Conscious religious tolerance will create an inclusive attitude. This attitude considers religion itself true but still gives space to express the truth of another religion that is believed true by its people. Inclusive attitudes of religious people will be able to undermine the extremist and exclusive attitude of religious people, which usually generates fanatical and radical understanding of people of different religions as it is engulfing the country.
