I was observing some remnants of mosaics and other artifacts from ancient Rome. It was obvious that these things had once told some kind of story, and as they wear away and get destroyed over time they begin to tell new stories.
These thoughts and reflections led to the inspiration behind this painting, which has a similar concept and appearance.
