They might have guns but we have flowers

They might have guns but we have flowers

This work is dedicated to whom lost their futures in Paris attack, 2015

Initially i wanted to create paintings that are visually appealing. This appeared as straight lines, shapes and colours. Colours representative of nature combined with the urban landscape as my inspiration. Straight lines drawn with an architecture ruler seemed like they could only exist in a multidimensional space as if they were carefully designed and painted. However brush strokes and pencil marks can be found if you look at the paintings closely. These are very natural mistakes made by hands and therefore represent myself and my human limitations. Painting by hands is one of the most important elements of my practice as in this modern society we are no longer allowed to make mistakes. My desire to complete the perfect paintings ultimately is an impossible goal. But it is fine as it is.

Works that are solely my own that I have painted with my own ideas and intentions gain their own meanings once they are completed and leave my studio. So it’s entirely possible for them to be hung differently according to spaces which in turn can present people with different meanings experiences and feelings. No two people will have exactly the same interpretations of the works, even if audiences have no opinions or feelings about the works it is fine as it is.

I’m attached to its imaginative contents. The style seems rather crude but the calm mood ties everything together.
