In 2007 I started filming out of train windows whilst traveling around London, this was the start of many years of collecting hundreds of files of glimpses of iconic London buildings such as The Gherkin and Canary Wharf from different vantage points. These can be clusters of buildings captured as a transient glance at the metropolis from public transport, the focal point not always intended as the most dominant, 'slipping glimpses of the city' that we all experience whilst we move around or commute.
These works evolved into prints, paintings, card/perspex amongst others. this is one of the digital Giclee prints from images that simplified block colours
blue and pink as the colours of the specific train company from where the view is taken, in this case First Capital Connect (at the time). The colours used provide the link between the romance of transient glimpses and commerce by appropriating the corporate colours of the various train companies.
