The Barber Shop. A place to be groomed, receive manly advice, and be updated on world current events. A new wave has been hitting barber shops in the roughest and toughest neighborhoods where there is a faded line between getting an education, and living your life in the streets. Young boys are now given an option which I am sure their parents have loved. For an exchange of getting that fresh line up like Steph Curry, and having to pay $20 (including tip), they are tasked to select a book, and read it aloud for a free haircut. While receiving a service that boost self-confidence on how a little boy, or young man looks, they receive something a little bit more. Self confidence in their reading ability. Whether it is a book they already have read, the task of performing in front of others helps self-esteem, and self-confidence. Who knows what these children may do after that free hair cut? Maybe our next senator, mayor, doctor, lawyer, judge, supervisor, teacher, or even barber. Giving this task to the young people of today, can give them a bright future, and outlook for tomorrow.
