Everyone has an identity. Identity is defined as an awareness of self. It consists of our self-identity, our social identity, our memories, our thoughts, our feelings, and our personal experiences and values. Some parts of our personal identity and our social or cultural identity overlap, contribute to an individual and collective sense of identity and citizenship. Trough globalization, the economy and tourism flourish but there’s this pressures on this sense of 'cultural well being'. A stereotyping of what tourists want and which contributes to the continued stereotyping of an area and the people. Selling your identity to earn a living distorts, and imports damaging values. Here, the artist expresses the reality and complexities of this ambiguous identity.
