In the general direction of all artists we evolve as we work. Buttoned Up is the natural evolution of the path I am in, coiling is my passion, my addiction, my calming tool. Then inspiration hits me and it changes things, this is where I feel alive with the possibilities of where it is taking me. Buttoned Up is a collection of my grandmother's, my mothers and my buttons. Buttons that we have been putting in the sewing kit for years, buttons collected from the clothes we buy that come with that extra button, to buttons removed from clothing worn down, to buttons you buy because you might need one some to replace lost ones. The mother of pearl buttons were mostly my grandmother's collection, she was a very gifted woman, crafty and talented. Like Buttoned Up is a product of my artistic evolution I am a product of gifted women passed down to me. I owe my talent to my mother, and she to her mother. Buttoned Up is my expression and reflection of my roots.
