"I would hope that when someone walks down the street with this, that what they're doing is celebrating humanity" - Jeff Koons
On 12 April 2017, the Louvre collaborated with American contemporary artist Jeff Koons and the renowned leather design brand Louis Vuitton, and launched the first celebrity dinner party in the museum. This event is under the agenda of 'branding Paris' to save their tourism, in response to the tourist fall after the terrorist attack in 2015.
Imitating the concerned Master Collection handbag in a local handmade ritual manner, building the brand logos with the lowest value, and distributing cut-outs to the audience, this work intends to satire the 'art as commodity' doctrine.
