Hello, my name is J.A.R. I Suffer from trauma and anxiety. I practice mindfulness (a DBT- dialectical behavioral therapy- skill) to help me cope with my symptoms. With mixed medias, charcoal, pastels, gel pens, colored pencils, etc, I make abstract art pieces and frame them. They are a great way for others to practice the mindfulness skills, observe and describe. You observe the art piece as just that, a piece of art. Then begin describing.... Describe the colors, textures, etc. Remember, in DBT we learn to describe non-judgementally, one- mindfully, and effectively.
