There are two sheets of handmade paper collaged stop each other, made of recycled paper and organic material. The blue center sheet is made of recycled materials. The circular sheet is made of beets, abaca, and hasta. The black rim is industrial fabric that has a plastic consistency. I used sewing and embroidery as my method of adhesive. In fact, the embroidery is inspired by the Japanese gold aesthetic known as Kintsugi. I wanted to emphasize the ends of the papers. Then I carefully burned the edges and small holes. This reminded me of the Australian bushfires at the time. When I look at this piece, it appears uncovered from the earth from an archaeological site. Hence, Unearthed.
