Waiting for the spring
Description
This painting is the representation of a slow awakening. Two figures in the foreground appear to be sleeping or waiting for an event. The landscape behind it is bare but the colors suggest that a new light is spreading, and slowly melts the darkness. In particular, the green of the field in the background invades the bare streaks like a raging river, representing the advancement of a new season. The intent of the painting was not strictly a depiction of a religious theme, but the composition could be interpreted as an epiphany, or a resurrection.
